However if you want to market your products and services via Social Media channels, but aren’t a budding designer – what do you do?
Firstly, don’t worry, as you don’t need to be a whizz-kid on Photoshop or other such tools – you just need to stick to some simple and proven practices.
All branding experts will tell you that every colour sends a subliminal message about a product. Red invokes passion and excitement. Pink is feminine, warm and nurturing. Purple is creative, compassionate and stimulating. Green restores balance and promotes growth. Orange is impulsive, optimistic and extroverted.
Recognisable logos allow people to form bonds with companies, brands and products – and creating a logo that makes people feel part of something bigger is a great way of generating and increasing engagement.
Keep it Consistent
Making sure all the text and images on your social media posts are consistent works on a similar principle to the recognisable logo – as people feel comfortable with consistency and conformity. These feelings mean potential customers are much more likely to click through to other pages using links and shortcuts and, of course, when they’re comfortable doing that they’ll feel much more comfortable pressing the “Buy Now” or “Subscribe Now” buttons. This will also increase your click-through rates and reduce your bounce rates; in turn improving your website’s Search Engine Rankings.
However great an image is – make sure it links to the story you’re telling. This builds instant trust with consumers – which again is a sure fire way of putting them in the mood to buy whatever it is your selling.
A picture can tell a thousand words and, if yours do, keep accompanying texts to a minimum. Keep your information succinct, and make your calls-to-action strong.
All social media networks require specific image sizes and must be adhered to for your images to have the optimum impact. Yes, it’s a pain resizing them – but paramount. If you don’t know how to create your own templates, then programs like Canva offer templates for each individual network.
